Nosworthy shocked to be shortlisted by BCCI

Auckland, July 1 (UNI) New Zealand A and Canterbury coach Dave Nosworthy has expressed surprise over the news that he is one of the three contenders shortlisted by the BCCI to be the next coach of Team India.

After former South African coach Graham Ford turned down BCCI's offer, the search still continues to find Greg Chappell's replacement, with the latest to join the bandwagon being Queensland's Terry Oliver, former Sri Lanka coach John Dyson and Nosworthy, for the most lucrative job in the 'business'.

Nosworthy said he knew nothing about his name being shortlisted and claimed his London-based agent must have sent his biodata and application through to the Indian board without his knowledge.

''I haven't heard anything from anyone but I do have a representative in London who looks after these things for me, and acts on my behalf that's how I got the Canterbury job,'' he was quoted as saying by a news webiste.

''Right now I'm just enjoying my time with Canterbury and NZC.

It's news to me that people are talking about me in India,'' he added.

But according to media reports, BCCI has received South African Nosworthy's application with CV and are about to start the process of finding the next coach following India's World Cup debacle.

The BCCI is starting the selection process again for the second time after Ford's rejection to take up the assignment who was interviewed alongwith England's John Emburey last month.
