New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee has expressed a unique wish for a day in the life an India cricket legend. During the CEAT Cricket Awards 2024, Southee shared his deep admiration for the player and wished he could have a day like the India star.
Southee was bestowed with the award as the best men's T20I bowler of the year and he revealed his wish there, which is to spend a day like MS Dhoni.

"I would want to swap my life for a day with MS Dhoni. I would love to have a day in his shoes to see what it is like to be MS Dhoni," said Southee. He praised Dhoni's ability to remain calm during high-pressure situations and his consistent performance at the highest level.
Southee highlighted Dhoni's exceptional qualities, including his iconic helicopter shot and match-finishing abilities, which have garnered him a global following.
"Dhoni is a phenomenal cricketer and a great leader. His ability to stay calm in high-pressure situations is something I admire. I'd love to know what goes through his mind in those moments," he added.
While Southee dreams of stepping into Dhoni's shoes, the future of the Indian cricket legend remains uncertain. Speculations about Dhoni's potential return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025 have been circulating, but no official announcement has been made by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management.
Dhoni led CSK to their fifth IPL title in 2023 and has been an integral part of the franchise since its inception. His leadership and experience have significantly contributed to CSK's success over the years. However, at 42 years old, Dhoni hinted that the 2023 IPL might be his last season.
The former India captain played IPL this year but passed the captaincy baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad, indicating the twilight of his career may near the setting point. The CSK and India legend is likely to take part in IPL 2025 as an uncapped player, which will mean a much lesser salary from the franchise.
