India clinched the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy by defeating New Zealand by four wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (March 9).
This triumph marked India's third Champions Trophy title, reaffirming their dominance in white-ball cricket.

New Zealand, opting to bat first, posted a total of 251 for 7 in their 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell top-scored with 63 runs, while Michael Bracewell contributed an unbeaten 53. India's spinners were instrumental in restricting New Zealand, with Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy taking crucial wickets. In response, India chased down the target in 49 overs, led by captain Rohit Sharma's 76-run knock. Despite a late surge from New Zealand's bowlers, KL Rahul's composed 34 not out ensured India's victory.
India put up a fantastic show in the tournament and remained unbeaten. Although Rohit Sharma and his boys dropped a few catches on the day, their ground fielding was excellent. Captain Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli - all toiled and saved runs with their fielding, thus restricting the Kiwis in their batting.
India's fielding coach T Dilip started the Best Fielder Medal since the World Cup 2023 and it has continued to be a mainstay of India's in house accolade after every match. And on the day of the Champions Trophy final, India captain Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja were the contenders, and it was Jadeja who ended up winning the best fielder medal.
"He has been showing top stuff in his own bowling. But the way he chased the ball today, getting bullet throws and cutting the angles, it is Ravindra Jadeja," T Dilip said after the match.
Jadeja hit the winning runs for India in the match and was also excellent with the ball. The left-arm spinner conceded just 30 runs in his ten overs and picked up one wicket.
