By MyKhel Staff

Growing up in Nepal, Gulshan Jha was just like any other cricket-obsessed teenager. But one day, his admiration for the game transformed into pure passion, all thanks to Shikhar Dhawan.

Watching Dhawan's back-to-back centuries on his debut was a moment etched in Gulshan's memory forever. And as Gulshan plays along with Shikhar in the Nepal Premier League (NPL 2024), he remembers his memories as a fan.

Karnali Yaks player Gulshan Jha depicts heartfelt Shikhar Dhawan Story

Jha is alongside Dhawan in the NPL with Karnali Yaks, and the player says he is living his dream. In a chat recently with media, the Karnali Yaks player revealed how he begged for a bat to his mother after watching the India batter score centuries.

"When Dhawan scored back-to-back centuries on debut, I became his biggest fan. I begged my mother for same SS bat he used, even cried for days. When my parents finally got it, I was thrilled. Now, batting alongside him feels like a dream come true," Jha was quoted as saying to the media.

Dhawan, a seasoned veteran of the game, has already shown glimpses of his class in the tournament. In four matches so far, he has amassed 136 runs in 111 deliveries. Despite his illustrious international career, Dhawan continues to inspire younger players, including Gulshan, with his commitment and work ethic.

In the NPL, Gulshan Jha isn't just making a name for himself-he's living his ultimate fantasy, playing alongside the man who inspired him to pick up a bat in the first place.

Dhawan's team currently have 8 points in six matches and sit 3rd in the NPL 2024 table. The tournament has already been a huge success in the country and promises to grow further in the inaugural season.
