Kane Williamson scores 28th Test hundred

Kane Williamson scored his 28th Test hundred and went on to complete his double hundred. The former New Zealand skipper scored 215 runs off 296 balls, which was comprised of 23 fours and 2 sixes.

The 32-year-old has continued his terrific form as his double hundred comes on the back of his unbeaten 121-run inning in the 2nd innings of the first Test, where the Kiwi batter helped his team to win the Test match on the very last ball of the match. The Kiwi stalwart also completed 8000 runs in Tests for New Zealand in the match, and is the highest run-scorer for the Blackcaps in the format.

Henry Nicholls gets maiden double hundred

Henry Nicholls was the partner in crime for Williamson. In a fantastic partnership, Nicholls was the aggressor as the pair scored the runs at a brisk pace. Nicholls completed his 9th Test century and continued his merry way to get his maiden double century. The 31-year-old was unbeaten on 200 off 240 balls (15 fours, 4 sixes) when the Kiwis decided to declare their inning.

Sri Lanka are in trouble as they have lost two early wickets at the fag end of the 2nd day's play. Oshada Fernando (6) and Kusal Mendis (0) are back in the hut and the visitors will be heading into a crucial day on Sunday as any further slip can have devastating ramifications for them.
