NZ-W vs WI-W Head to Head: New Zealand and West Indies Women are set to face off in the second semi-final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday, October 18.
Both teams will go into the match hoping to break their recent trophy drought. West Indies, who last made the finals in 2016 where they were the eventual champions, will be looking to reestablish themselves as a force to reckon with by securing a victory at the slow Sharjah pitch.

Meanwhile, it has been 14 years since New Zealand made it to the finals of the tournament, and captain Sophie Devine will look to etch her name in the history books by leading the White Ferns to their first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup title.
The Kiwis will go in as slight favourites as they boast an impressive arsenal of spin bowling, including the leading wicket-taker Amelia Kerr, which will make them hard to play at Sharjah. However, former champions West Indies will give it their all, and with one of the best batting lineups in the tournament, they will back themselves to get a positive result on Friday.
Despite their superior trophy cabinet, the West Indies Women lag significantly behind New Zealand Women when it comes to head-to-head records. In the 23 WT20I matches played between the two teams, New Zealand have won 17 matches, two of which have come from winning the super over in tied matches. In contrast, the Windies have won just five clashes, with one game ending in no result.
Four of these matches have been played in Women’s T20 World Cups, with both teams winning two matches apiece. New Zealand won the first semi-final clash between the two teams in 2010, eventually losing to Australia in the final. In 2016, West Indies defeated New Zealand to progress to the final round on their way to their maiden Women’s T20 World Cup title.
