Cricket will make a long-awaited return to the Olympic Games at Los Angeles 2028 (LA28), with the men’s and women’s T20 cricket competitions scheduled from July 12 to 29, 2028. All matches will be played at the Fairgrounds Stadium, a new, purpose-built venue at Fairplex in Pomona, located about 50km from downtown Los Angeles.
This marks the first Olympic appearance for cricket since 1900, when only Great Britain and France competed. At LA28, the format will be T20 cricket, the fastest and most popular version of the game globally.

A total of 180 players, with six teams each in the men's and women's draws, will compete in the T20 format. Each side will name a 15-player squad, bringing short-format intensity to Olympic cricket. Most match days will feature double-headers, with start times set at 9:00 AM and 6:30 PM local time. Rest days are scheduled for July 14 and 21, while the medal matches will be played on July 20 (women's) and July 29 (men's).
The temporary Fairgrounds Stadium, part of the historic Fairplex complex, is being developed specifically for the Olympic cricket events. Fairplex, known for hosting the LA County Fair since 1922, will now showcase the return of cricket to the world stage—underscoring LA28’s commitment to innovation and inclusivity.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass emphasized the Games' legacy impact, stating that over one million youth enrollments in PlayLA programs have already laid the foundation for a more engaged sporting community ahead of the Olympics.
