March 15, 2012 - a day which an ardent cricket fan will never forget in his lifetime. The day witnessed former India batter Sachin Tendulkar become the first batter in the world to score 100 hundreds in international cricket.

Put to bat first by Bangladesh in Mirpur in the fourth match of the Asia Cup 2012, India lost the wicket of Gautam Gambhir early in the fifth over.

Tendulkar was in the middle and the people were glued to their TV screens in hope of his 100th hundred. Notably, his 99th hundred came over a year ago against South Africa in the 2011 World Cup.

The 'Master Blaster' forged a 148-run partnership with Virat Kohli (66) to put India in a commanding position. By the end of the partnership He was just 13 runs away from the glory moment.

He was joined by southpaw Suresh Raina next. On the fourth delivery of the 44th over, Tendulkar clipped a delivery from Shakib Al Hasan towards square leg and jogged for a single to complete his 138-ball hundred. A subdued celebration followed as a relieved Tendulkar tried really hard to control his emotions but he failed to do it.

"There could be a tear or two in Tendulkar's eyes as well. He is quite clearly taken by the emotion of it all. It's been a long, long wait. It's absolutely a mind-boggling, mind-boggling event. 100 hundreds in international cricket!" Gavaskar said on air as the entire dressing room and fans at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur got up to cherish and applaud the moment.

The former opener added 14 more runs to his tally before a Mashrafe Mortaza-delivery generated an edge and landed into the gloves of wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim. Every single person present at the stadium gave Tendulkar (114 off 147, 12 fours, 1 six) a standing ovation as he walked back to the pavilion.

With contributions from Rain (51) and MS Dhoni (21 off 11) India finished at 289/5. However, India ended up losing the match by five wickets. The Mirpur hundred happened to be Tendulkar's last in his glorious international career which came to an end with his retirement in November 2013.
