ONE Fight Night 41: Allycia Rodrigues Promises ‘War’ Against Phetjeeja

Brazil's Allycia Hellen Rodrigues will defend her ONE Women's Atomweight Muay Thai World Title against kickboxing queen and Thai superstar Phetjeeja in the headliner of ONE Fight Night 41 on 14 March at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium.

The showdown marks Rodrigues' fifth defense and presents Phetjeeja with the opportunity to join the exclusive club of two-sport ONE World Champions. The 27-year-old Brazilian has been nothing short of dominant since shocking Thai megastar Stamp Fairtex to capture the crown in her ONE Championship debut.

For the first time in nearly six years, Rodrigues will face a Thai opponent, adding extra significance to the bout taking place on Thai soil. Standing across from her will be the 24-year-old Phetjeeja, who brings a perfect 8-0 promotional record built on victories over the elite of women's striking.

Rodrigues revealed that her familiarity with Phetjeeja stretches back years before she even relocated to Thailand. The champion watched the Thai compete against male opponents, recognizing even then that their paths would eventually cross inside the ring.

"I've known Phetjeeja since before I came to live in Thailand, back when she used to fight boys. I always knew that this opportunity would come. And now it has arrived, and it is one of the biggest [fights] of my career. I am very excited," Rodrigues said.

The Brazilian said this represents the super-fight fans have clamored for, acknowledging that facing another champion requires special preparation. Rodrigues made clear she expects Phetjeeja to bring her absolute best to Lumpinee Stadium.

"This is the fight everyone has wanted to see for a long time. It's not the first time I'm going to face a champion. I hope she is ready too, because it's going to be a war," she said.

Rodrigues pulled no punches when describing what awaits fans on 14 March. She believes the contrasting styles and high stakes guarantee an unforgettable battle that will showcase women's striking at its absolute pinnacle.

"I can guarantee that it will be one of the biggest female fights of the year. And because of our styles, it will also be a very intense fight. A fight where no one will be able to blink," Rodrigues said.
