Our bowling not up to mark: Dhoni

By Staff

Chennai, May 24 (UNI) Captain of Chennai Super Kings Mahendra Singh Dhoni today said it was a close match against Rajasthan Royals and his team batted and fielded pretty well, but bowling was not up to the mark.

Addressing a press conference after the Super Kings team suffered their sixth defeat in the league, Dhoni, who himself failed to come good with the bat as his team chased a score of 212 to win, said ''it would have been a victory for us but we missed a few balls in the last over.'' ''Our batting was fabulous,'' Dhoni said referring to the brilliant knocks of Parthiv Patel, Albie Morkel and Suresh Raina, all left handers.

Dhoni said 212 was not an easy target to chase, ''Even if you get 10 runs off 3 balls and the other three balls don't fetch any runs, we are under pressure,'' he said, adding that's what happened in the last over with his team.

He said his team's bowling was not good. ''It is settled now and I am generally happy with the attack. But, they need to improve,'' he averred.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Warne said he would give full credit to openers Graeme Smith and Asnodkar, who batted brilliantly. ''Smith set the tone for us,'' he noted.

Warne said ''despite the pressure, our team won the game.'' The former Aussie leggie, who himslef contributed to his team's win with two crucial wickets, also patted his rival Dhoni's captaincy. ''He is an exceptional captain,'' he said.

Warne said his team had good depth.
