Shreyas Iyer, who recently slammed a hundred for Mumbai in their Ranji Trophy match against Maharashtra, fumed at a fake news reports over his fitness. Iyer responded to an X post from a user who has quoted cricbuzz's report that the star batter would not be playing Mumbai's next match against Tripura due to injury concerns.
The Cricbuzz report suggested that Shreyas Iyer would need to rest for a week, and as a result would not travel with the team to Agartala where Mumbai are scheduled to play their third round match from October 26. The website also quoted a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) source to confirm the 29-year-old unavailability.

"No matter whatever people think outside, I have to listen to my body because I know the amount of threshold I've carried over the last few years and based on that I'll be taking the right decision and I hope that my team will also back (me)," Shreyas Iyer recently said.
Shreyas Iyer played in the Buchi Babu Tournament before featuring in all the three Duleep Trophy matches. He has now also featured in the first two games for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.
The player was reprimanded by the BCCI for not playing domestic matches earlier this year and as a result also lost his central contract. The stylish middle-order batter has since then made an ODI comeback for India on the Sri Lanka tour, but awaits a Test call-up. His last Test outing for India came back in February against England.
The 'fake news' quite naturally did not go well with Shreyas Iyer as, and he responded by writing, "Guys seriously let's do some homework before publishing news."
