Lahore Qalandars pacer Shaheen Afridi on Sunday set the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on fire on the very first ball of the first over during Peshawar Zalmi's 242-run chase.
The left-arm fast bowler broke the bat of Peshawar opener Mohammad Haris with his searing pace on the first delivery before rattling his stumps with a lethal yorker on the next delivery.
"Oh!! What happened there? He has broken the bat into two pieces very first ball," the thrilled commentator said reacting to the incident.
"Cleaned him up, it's one again but this time it's the stump," he can be heard saying on the next delivery.
The Lahore captain also cleared the stumps of his Peshawar counterpart Babar Azam on the fifth delivery of the third over. Later he got rid of Rovman Powell, Wahab Riaz and Jimmy Neesham to finish with figures of five for 40. The 22-year-old now has five 5-wicket wicket hauls in T20 cricket. The match-winning spell helped Lahore clinch the match by 40 runs.
Afridi is currently the second-highest wicket-taker in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023. He has picked 10 wickets in four matches at an average of 12.80 and an economy rate of 8. Multan Sultans 20-year-old pacer Ihsanullah is the leading wicket-taker. He has picked 14 wickets in six matches at an average of 9.35 and an average of 5.53.
Interestingly, a few days back an ultra-confident Haris had talked about his matchup with Ihsanullah after the match against Multan which his team lost by 56 runs.
“Jis tarah ki meri ball lag rahi thi, to shukar hai Ihsanullah bach gaya. Vo to uski khushkismati hai,” (The way I was striking the ball, he should consider himself very lucky that he escaped!)," Haris had told reporters after scoring 40 off 23 in a losing cause.
Ihsanullah, who finished with match figures of 3.5-0-24-3, bowled only two deliveries to Haris.
