Mohammad Amir is gearing up to play his first match for Pakistan in four years and the fans can't keep calm. The superstar left-arm pacer came out of retirement after the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024, and on Tuesday (April 9) he was picked for the 5-match T20I series against New Zealand starting April 17.
The 31-year-old has been picked in the Pakistan T20I squad at a time when the T20 World Cup 2024 is less than two months away. He last played for Pakistan in August 2020 before announcing his retirement later that year in December at the age of 28.

Mohammad Amir had blamed the then Pakistan team management for his decision. However, all that is history now as the Quetta Gladiators pacer has officially made his return to the Pakistan cricket team.
Fans were ecstatic to see Mohammad Amir's name in the team sheet for New Zealand. They have long been waiting for the day, and when the news of Mohammad Amir's comeback broke out, they quickly took to their social media handles to express their joy.
Mohammad Amir has played a total of 36 Test matches, 61 ODIs and 50 T20Is. He has picked 119 Test wickets at an average of 30.47. In ODIs, Amir has 81 wickets at an average of 29.62, and an economy rate of 4.77. The senior pacer also has piked 50 T20I wickets at an impressive average of 21.40 and a strike rate of 7.02.
Imad Wasim has also been named in the 17-man squad. The veteran all-rounder had also announced his international retirement in November 2023. The 35-year-old also reversed his decision following a stellar PSL 2024 season. He picked five wickets for Islamabad United in the final against Multan Sultans.
Further, Babar Azam has also returned as Pakistan captain. The team features the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Rizwan but a vice-captain has not been named for the New Zealand series.
