Pak ICL players must terminate contracts to be considered for national squad: Butt

By Super Admin

Lahore, Apr.2 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt has said that Pakistani players who sided with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) would only be considered for selection in the national squad after they terminate their contracts with the ICL.

"The only way out for them is to first resign and then terminate their contracts with the ICL then they can be considered for selection," The Daily Times quoted Butt, as saying.

Butt said that the PCB would abide by the terms and conditions set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the issue.

Commenting on the No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the ICL to 19 Pakistani cricketers to play from any forum or team, Butt said the ICL contract clearly mentions about the players returning back to the league when it starts in October.

Butt also said that Miandad's return to the Director General's post will boost efforts to bring things back on track in the board.

"Miandad's return to the board is a very good omen and his reinstatement is part of a policy to reorganise board affairs and ensure that every person does his job professionally and within his ambit," Butt added.

He also downed all speculations about him quitting the post.

"These resignation reports are not true at all. I have no intention to resign.

I am working hard to bring about improvement in Pakistan cricket and overcome its problems," 71 year old Butt said. (ANI)
