PAK vs BAN 1st Test: Mohammad Rizwan eclipses Rishabh Pant to create new Record in WTC

By MyKhel Staff

With the outstanding display, Rizwan has shattered Rishabh Pant's all-time World Test Championship (WTC) record. The monumental innings has not only established Rizwan as the highest-scoring wicketkeeper in WTC history, but also set a new benchmark for the highest score by a number six batter in WTC history.

Rizwan's performance was particularly noteworthy as it was his third Test century and his first in 890 days, underscoring his return to form after a challenging period.

Rizwan's 171-run knock came in just 239 deliveries. He showed a combination of solid technique and aggressive stroke play, featuring numerous boundaries that kept the scoreboard ticking. By surpassing Pant's previous record of 146 runs, set against England in 2022, Rizwan has now become the first wicketkeeper to score over 150 runs in WTC.

Joining the ranks of legendary wicketkeepers, Rizwan's feat places him alongside prominent figures like Quinton de Kock and Litton Das, both of whom have also made significant contributions to their teams in the WTC so far.

After scoring 448 runs, Pakistan have Bangladesh at 147 for 3 on Day 3 of the first Test match. With 36.66 PCT in this WTC cycle so far, Pakistan will have to secure a positive result in this Bangladesh series to elevate their place in the WTC points table.
