PAK vs BAN: Pakistan shut their 'diet critics', devour biryani and kebabs before beating Bangladesh in Kolkata

Pakistan kept themselves alive at the World Cup 2023 by beating Bangladesh by seven wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, October 31. The Men in Green chased down a 205-run target in 32.2 overs to register their third win of the tournament.

The win also ended Pakistan's four-match losing streak which had brought them under massive criticisms. Captain Babar Azam was called out for his poor captaincy by many and reports surfaced that the players and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were at loggerheads.

To add fuel to the chaos, Pakistan chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq resigned on Monday amid allegations of conflict of interest. A WhatsApp chat of Babar Azam was also leaked in the media.

Pakistan's poor fielding was also in focus. Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram alleged that players in the team were eating 8 kgs of mutton and were not at all taking care of their fitness.

Pakistan players ordered biryani and kebabs from famous Kolkata restaurant ahead of BAN clash

However, unfazed Pakistan cricket team players made the most of the opportunity to be in Kolkata which is world famous for its food. On Sunday evening, Babar Azam and his men devoured biryanis, kebabs and chaps from the Zam Zam Restaurant.

"The order came through an online food delivery platform. They ordered three dishes which were biryani, kebabs, and chap. They ordered it on Sunday evening after 7 PM. Initially, we had no idea that the order was from the Pakistan cricket team but later we got to know it. I hope they liked the food. People from every nationality should come and try our food. Kolkata has its own style of biryani which is very famous all over the world," Shadman Faize, the Director of the restaurant told ANI.

Seems like, after Hyderabad, the Kolkata cuisines have worked well for the Pakistan team. Notably, Pakistan won their first two matches in Hyderabad before losing four games on the trot played across Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Chennai.

The Pakistan team will travel to Bengaluru again for the clash against New Zealand on November 4. Their last league stage match against England on November 11 will give them another opportunity to be in Kolkata.

Pakistan have to win their remaining two matches and hope for results of other teams to come their way to fancy a chance to book a spot in the semi-finals.
