Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam missed out on the second Test against Pakistan due to a groin injury. Taskin Ahmed replaced the left-arm pacer in the Bangladesh playing eleven for the second Test in Rawalpindi.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) released a statement in which it was revealed that Shoriful Islam underwent an MRI scan after complaining about discomfort in groin area. The results showed a Grade 1 left adductor strain.

"Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam has a groin strain and could not be considered for selection in the second Test against Pakistan which got underway in Rawalpindi today( Saturday). The left-arm pacer had complained of discomfort in the groin area after the first match and subsequent tests confirmed the injury," BCB said in a statement on Saturday, August 31.
"Shoriful underwent an MRI following the first Test and the results show a Grade 1 left adductor strain. Recovery usually takes around 10 days in such cases and he has started his rehab," Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam Khan mentioned in the statement.
Shoriful Islam picked the crucial wickets of Pakistan captain Shan Masood, and Babar Azam in the first innings of the first Test. He also chipped in with 22 runs off 14 balls. He smashed two fours and as many sixes. In the second innings, the 23-year-old picked the wicket of opener Saim Ayub.
Bangladesh registered a historic 10-wicket win in the first Test, and are now looking to register their first-ever Test series win against Sri Lanka. The win in the first Test was also their first against Pakistan in the format.
Day 1 of the second Test was washed out due to rain. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first on Day 2 - Saturday, August 31.
