PAK vs ENG 2nd Test: Kamran Ghulam Earns First Test Cap as Pakistan Make 4 Changes to Playing 11

By MyKhel Staff

Kamran Ghulam earns his first Test cap as Pakistan announced their playing 11 for the second Test against, starting on Tuesday (October 15) at the Multan Cricket Ground in Multan.

With senior stars Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah being rested for the remainder of the series, Pakistan made four changes to their team up that suffered an innings and 47 runs loss to England in the series opener last week.

Ghulam, who has one ODI cap to his name so far, comes into the squad and into the playing 11 to replace Babar, who has had rough patch since late 2023 across formats. The 29-year-old Ghulam is an all-rounder, who can also bowl left-arm orthodox.

In 98 First Class games, Ghulam has scored 4377 runs, including 16 centuries and 20 fifties, at an average of 49.17. With the ball, the left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder has claimed 28 wickets.

Apart from Ghulam, Noman Ali, Zahid Mehmood and Sajid Khan also have been named in the playing 11 after being included in the squad for the 2nd and 3rd Tests on Sunday (October 13).

The trio replace Shaheen, Naseem and Abrar Ahmed, who took ill during the final two days of the first Test in Multan, and was rested for the remainder of the series. Like Ghulam, the trio also return to the national side after a long break.

Leg spinner Mehmood last played for Pakistan in December 2022 during a Test series against England, while fellow spinner Sajid returns after 9 months, having featured in the Test in Australia. Left-arm spinner Noman Ali plays for the first time since July 2023.

With the same wicket as the first Test expected to be used for the second Test in Multan, Pakistan have packed their bowling attack with spinners. Aamir Jamal will be the lone pace-bowling option.

Skipper Shan Masood, batters Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Abdullah Shafique and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan have all retained their spots in the playing 11 from the first Test. Here is a look at the Pakistan playing 11 for the second Test:
