'Ravindra Ashwin' - Ramiz Raja gets Ravichandran Ashwin's name all wrong, fans troll him on Twitter

By MyKhel Staff

PAK vs ENG: Pakistan cricekter-turned-commentator Ramiz Raja has found himself at the centre of social media trolling after mispronouncing Ravichandran Ashwin's name during commentary.

The incident occurred on Day 1 of the second Test between England and Pakistan in Multan, where Ramiz referred to the Indian spinner as "Ravinder Ashwin." The mistake surprised many fans, especially considering Ramiz's extensive experience as a commentator spanning over two decades.

While praising Ashwin's ability to deliver strong performances even in the first innings of a Test, the former Pakistan captain slipped up with the name, leaving cricket enthusiasts puzzled.

Given Ramiz's long-standing association with the sport, fans questioned how such an error could happen, especially regarding a well-known player like Ashwin. The misstep quickly went viral on Twitter, with users expressing their surprise and poking fun at the commentator for the gaffe.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan vs England 2nd Test on Day 1 saw Kamran Ghulam hit after coming in as the controversial replacement for Babar Azam, who was dropped from the second Test over a poor batting display. At the time of writing this report, Pakistan were 240/4 in 83 overs with Kamran (115 not out) and Mohammad Rizwan (26) on the pitch.

Kamran Ghulam, who made his Test debut at the age of 29, had a crucial partnership of 149 runs for the third wicket with Saim Ayyub, who ended his run drought with an innings of 77. The stand came after Abdullah Shafique (7) and captain Shan Masood (3) fell cheap in the morning session.

The crucial stand ended before the tea break as Ayyub was dismissed by Matthew Potts. Pakistan suffered another blow right after as Saud Shakeel was soon back to the pavilion after scoring just four runs. However, Ghulam then had a crucial 50-plus stand with Mohammad Rizwan to bring Pakistan innings in their control again.
