PAK vs ENG: Pakistan on Saturday became the first team in history to lose a Test match by an innings margin despite posting a 500-plus total on the scoreboard in the first innings. England completed an innings and 47-run win in Multan to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series.

England declared their first innings at 823/7 to take a 267-run lead, and then bundled down the hosts for 220 to register a sensational win. Pakistan have now not won a Test match at home since 2022. Even Bangladesh and West Indies have managed to win three Test matches each during the period.

After Pakistan posted 556 runs in the first innings, the mood in the camp was high, but a stunning 454-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Joe Root and Harry Brook, took out every ounce of energy and confidence from the Shan Masood-led Pakistan team. Each of the six bowlers used by Pakistan who bowled more than five overs, conceded over hundred runs.

Losing a home Test match by an innings on an extremely flat batting-friendly surface has irked the Pakistan fans. They have slammed the batting as well as the Pakistan bowling unit for bringing shame to their nation which was once famous for its fighting spirit.
