PAK vs NZ: Haris Rauf's World Cup 2023 became bad to worst in the match against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, November 4.
The 29-year-old express pacer was hammered left, right and centre by New Zealand batters who collected 85 runs from his 10 overs. At one point in the match, he became the Pakistan bowler to bowl the costliest spell in ODI World Cup history. However, the unwanted record soon got transferred to Shaheen Afridi. The left-arm pacer ended up giving five more runs (0/90) than Rauf.

However, Haris Rauf could not save himself from another unwanted record. He has conceded the most sixes in a single World Cup edition since 1999. Rachindra Ravindra and Glenn Phillips hit a six each to take Rauf's tally to 16.
This is not it, Haris Rauf has now conceded more runs than Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have scored in the ongoing World Cup 2023. Kohli has 442 runs to his name in seven matches, while Rohit has scored 402 in as many matches. Haris Rauf has leaked 469 runs in eight matches.
He is currently sixth on the overall list of bowlers to concede most runs in a single World Cup edition. However, if he gives away 58 runs against England in Pakistan's last league match, he would climb on top of the unwanted list. Haris Rauf is also the first Pakistan bowler to concede 80+ runs spells twice in a World Cup edition.
New Zealand posted 401/6 in 50 overs - their highest-ever World Cup total after the expensive spells from the two key Pakistan pacers. Hasan Ali also gave away 82 runs in 10 overs for a wicket.
