Pakistan's batter Khushdil Shah has been fined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaking the rules during the first T20I against New Zealand.
Shah was punished for bumping into bowler Zakary Foulkes during the eighth over of the match. As a result, he lost half of his match fee and received three demerit points.

The ICC found Shah guilty of breaking Article 2.12 of its Code of Conduct, which bans "inappropriate physical contact with a player, umpire, or any other person during a match." Because of this, he was fined 50% of his match fee and given three demerit points.
Shah accepted the punishment given by the umpires and Match Referee Jeff Crowe, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
Even though Shah was fined, he will not be suspended. According to ICC rules, a player is banned if they collect four or more demerit points in 24 months. Since this was Shah's first offense in two years, he is still allowed to play in the second T20I against New Zealand.
Pakistan had a terrible match in the series opener, getting all out for just 91 runs, one of their lowest scores in T20I history. While most of the batters struggled, Khushdil Shah was the only one to fight back, scoring 32 runs off 30 balls.
