PAK vs SA: South Africa captain Temba Bavuma gives stern warning to Pakistan ahead of high-voltage Chennai clash

PAK vs SA: South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has issued a stern warning to a struggling Pakistan side ahead of the match between the two sides scheduled to be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, October 27.

High-flying South Africa are currently the second-placed team in the World Cup 2023 points table. Apart from their shock defeat against Netherlands, the Proteas have been clinical thus far in the ongoing tournament.

South Africa, who have scored 382/5, 399/7, 311/7 and 428/5 in four of their five outings, has warned Pakistan of again breaching the 350-run mark in Chennai. However, no team in World Cup history has scored over 300 runs at the Chepauk.

Bavuma, who has missed out on the last two matches for his side due to illness, said that South Africa would aim to score over 350 if the conditions allow.

"So, I think what we've done well is there's that process within our batting of assessing the conditions, looking at what we need from a skill and option point of view to be successful, and that's what we've done well,” said Bavuma ahead of the Pakistan vs South Africa match.

"So, I think the process in itself, batting here in Chennai, that's not going to change. We'll assess the wicket and, I guess, come up with options as to how we can be successful. And if the opportunity is there for us to score 350, we'll do so. If not, we'll make sure we play what's happening in front of us as best as we can," Bavuma added.

Babar Azam-led Pakistan are under extreme pressure after each of their last three matches. They lost to Afghanistan by eight wickets in their last match. Sri Lanka defeated England on Thursday to pip Pakistan for the fifth spot. Another defeat would certainly rule Pakistan out of the semi-final race.
