PAK vs SL: Sri Lanka opener Kusal Mendis was taken to the hospital after his record-breaking 65-ball hundred in his side's World Cup 2023 match against Pakistan at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
The right-hand batter smashed 14 fours and six sixes in his 77-ball knock for 122 runs. He broke Kumar Sangakkara's record for fastest ODI World Cup hundred by a Sri Lanka batter.

“Kusal Mendis was taken to the hospital after the player suffered cramps upon returning from the field after his brilliant knock in the ongoing game vs Pakistan,” Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement.
Mendis scored 76 runs off just 42 balls in his first outing against South Africa in Delhi on Saturday. With 198 runs in two matches at an average of 99, the 28-year-old is currently the leading run-scorer in World Cup 2023.
His innings laid the foundation for Sri Lanka to finish at 344/9 in 50 overs. Kusal Mendis was involved in two century stands with Pathum NIssanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama respectively.
In the match, Samarawickrama also brought up his maiden ODI hundred, scoring 108 runs off 89 balls. The innings from the wicketkeeper-batter consisted of eleven fours and two sixes.
Pakistan have won seven out of their seven ODI World Cup matches against Sri Lanka. The Dasun Shanka-led side has put them in a strong position to register their maiden ODI World Cup win against Pakistan.
Sri Lanka have already lost two of their key bowlers to injuries. Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera failed to recover on time for Sri Lanka's World Cup 2023 campaign.
