Pakistan will lock horns with Sri Lanka in a must-win game at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday, September 13. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are on two points each after losing and winning one of their two Super Fours (Super 4) matches each.
Pakistan have no other option but to beat Sri Lanka to qualify for the mega final to be played on Sunday. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will qualify even if the match is tied or is abandoned.

Sri Lanka bundled out India for 213 on Tuesday and once looked like chasing the target as well before losing the match by 41 runs. Pakistan lost to India by 228 runs on Tuesday. They were bundled out for 128 while chasing 357.
Pakistan will be without Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf and that adds to their problem. Both the players faced issues while bowling against India and the management have opted to not risk their fitness ahead of the World Cup 2023. Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan have been added as their backups.
Spin is expected to play a key role at the R Premadasa Stadium and therefore defending champions Sri Lanka are the favourites to beat Pakistan. Even though on an expected spin-friendly surface, Pakistan are certain of missing their premier pacers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah who have wreaked havoc regardless of the conditions.
Pakistan spin unit has struggled and Shadab Khan, who is averaging 38 after five wickets in four matches, is their leading wicket-taker among spinners. Usama Mir is inexperienced and Mohammad Nawaz has been dropped in the last two matches.
On the flip side, Sri Lanka spinners wreaked havoc on Tuesday and became the first ODI team to take all 10 wickets against India through spin bowling. Wellalage has nine wickets from four matches and is the joint-highest wicket-taker in the Asia Cup 2023.
Maheesh Theekshana and Charith Asalanka have picked seven and four wickets respectively. Dhananjaya de Silva is also a handy spin option.
In case Pakistan top order collapses and Babar Azam departs early, making a comeback will become extremely difficult for Pakistan. Sri Lanka batters need to hold their nerves and just post a handy total on the board.
