PAK vs WI 3rd ODI: Jayden Seales Scripts History, Becomes First West Indian To Achieve Massive Feat vs Pakistan

PAK vs WI: In a landmark performance on August 12, 23-year-old fast bowler Jayden Seales made history by becoming the first West Indies player to take six wickets in a One Day International (ODI) against Pakistan.

Representing the Caribbean side in the final ODI of the series at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Seales delivered a stunning bowling display, claiming 6 wickets for just 18 runs in 7.2 overs.

Seales wasted no time making an impact. He started by dismissing Pakistan opener Saim Ayub early, caught behind by wicketkeeper Shai Hope without scoring. Soon after, he removed Abdullah Shafique for a duck, with the right-hander caught by Gudakesh Motie. The onslaught continued as Seales clean bowled Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan for a golden duck, intensifying the pressure on the visitors.

The young Trinidadian then trapped former captain Babar Azam LBW after the star batsman managed only 9 runs off 23 balls. Seales's relentless spell continued as he caught and bowled Naseem Shah, and shortly after, bowled Hasan Ali for another duck, showcasing his ability to dominate the Pakistani batting lineup comprehensively.

Before Seales, the best bowling figures by a West Indies bowler against Pakistan were held by Franklyn Rose, who took 5 wickets for 23 runs in 2000. Seales' 6/18 ranks as the third-best bowling performance ever by a West Indies bowler in ODIs, trailing only Winston Davis's 7/51 against Australia in 1983 and Colin Croft's 6/15 versus England in 1981. Notably, Seales also surpassed South African fast bowler Dale Steyn's record of best ODI figures against Pakistan, previously set at 6 wickets for 39 runs in 2013.

Seales' exceptional spell was instrumental in bowling Pakistan out for a mere 92 runs in response to West Indies' 294, sealing a massive 202-run victory and clinching the series 2-1. This performance not only showcased Seales' rise as a world-class bowler but also marked a historic moment for West Indies cricket against a strong Pakistani side.
