Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024: Pakistan A Get First Win by 74 Runs Against Oman

By MyKhel Staff

In the Emerging Asia Cup 2024 clash between Pakistan A and Oman, Pakistan A secured a comfortable 74-run victory. Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan A posted a formidable 186/5 in their 20 overs.

The innings was highlighted by Rohail Nazir's brilliant unbeaten 41 off 25 balls, including a flurry of boundaries in the final overs. His partnership with Arafat Minhas, who contributed 31 off 14, provided the late surge Pakistan needed.

Earlier, Qasim Akram had laid the foundation with a well-constructed 45, while Omair Yousuf added 25 runs. Oman's bowling was spearheaded by Muzahir Raza, who claimed two key wickets in the third over, removing both Mohammad Haris and Yasir Khan to give Oman hope early on.

However, Pakistan A's middle-order recovery, aided by Nazir and Minhas, took the game away from Oman. In response, Oman's chase never really gained momentum. They started cautiously, with Jatinder Singh scoring 20, and Aamir Kaleem adding 11.

Despite reaching 44/1 after 8 overs, they were unable to accelerate as required. Pakistan's bowlers kept the pressure on, with Oman struggling to find boundaries. Wasim Ali (26) and Hammad Mirza (12) tried to steady the ship, but their efforts were in vain as Oman continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.

By the 18th over, Oman was in deep trouble at 97/6, and their chase fizzled out, finishing on 111/7 in their 20 overs. Sufyan Mehmood added a late six, but it was too little, too late. Pakistan A's bowlers were disciplined throughout, with Mohammad Imran and company ensuring Oman never came close to the target.
