That was bad from Nadeem as he falls in the first ball of the last over. Mohammad Haris catches the weirdly floating ball with one hand and enjoys the spell. Mohammad Imran comes in and starts with Sufyan Mehmood. Stumbling and walking (very slowly if we might add), Oman cross the 100-run threshold but can hardly do anything more other than ending their innings with a 6 in the very last ball of the very last over making their total score 111 runs.
OMN 111/7 in 20 overs Sufyan Mehmood 8 Samay Srivastava 2*
It's not looking good for Oman as Hammad Mirza is taken out at the penultimate ball of the 17th over. Mehran Khan comes in, takes the charge and says bye to Wasim Ali at the first ball of the 18th over. Pakistan take out Mehran as well at the last ball of the 18th over and it looks very very bleak for Oman.
OMN 97/6 in 18 overs Mohammad Nadeem 2*
The scene has not changed in the last two overs with three more dots, 9 singles, and a wide. While it says a lot about Shaheen bowlers and their abilities, it also brings a lot of doubt regarding Oman's intent which seems to be somewhat lacking.
OMN 88/3 in 16 overs Hammad Mirza 12* Wasim Ali 26*
3 more dots, just one four managed, and singles in the rest balls define the last two overs. Only six overs left, so Oman still need 108 runs from 36 balls.
OMN 78/3 in 14 overs Hammad Mirza 8* Wasim Ali 21*
Two more overs of dots and singles and that has been the story of the Oman innings so far today. The chances of reaching that huge score look further and further away now.
OMN 65/3 in 12 overs Hammad Mirza 4* Wasim Ali 13*
Oman have very little time and a big number to still need to chase, so they should be starting to get tensed right about now, especially considering the slow pace of dots and singles and Pakistan taking out Jatinder on the 4th ball of the 10th over. Hammad Mirza comes in.
OMN 54/3 in 10 overs Hammad Mirza 1* Wasim Ali 8*
Karan's risks catch up to him as Abdul Samad catches his ball to take him out on the 3rd ball of the 7th over with only 5 runs to his name. Wasim Ali comes in and he starts patiently as well with finding the boundary once in the middle of it. The score steadily touches 44 at the end of the 8th over.
OMN 44/2 in 8 overs Jatinder Singh 20* Wasim Ali 5*
After spending the 5th over with dots and 'single', Oman began the sixth over with a four from Aamir but that was it from him as he was taken out with an LBW on the very next ball. Aamir walked out with 11 runs to his name on the 2nd ball of the fourth over. Karan Sonavle came in and began his stint with another four which shows that he certainly means business and is not afraid to take risks for even one run. His risky run could have seen him walk out so soon but he was certainly lucky, to say the least.
OMN 34/1 in 6 overs Jatinder Singh 15* Karan Sonavle 5*
A rather slow start for Oman as they look like they're not willing to take unnecessary risks and going for the boundary here and now again. The strategy is not doing bad so far with one more 4 and a 6 in the last two overs from Oman, bringing the score to 23 runs.
OMN 23/0 in 4 overs Jatinder Singh 15* Aamir Kaleem 6*
Mostly dots and singles so far and that says how good Shaheen bowlers are doing so far in the first few overs but Oman are patient and Jatinder does well near the end of the second over as he pulls out a nice four and Oman's run reads 8 now.
OMN 8/0 in 2 overs Jatinder Singh 7* Aamir Kaleem 0*
Oman begin their innings and it is not going to be an easy task for them to chase that score.
Rohail and Arafat gave their best in the last two overs to push the score as far as they could for Oman to chase. Rohail with a 4 and a 6 and Minhas managed two 4s and two 6s and they helped Pakistan end the innings at 185 runs which makes it the highest so far in this year's tournament. Says a lot about what these last two batters have been able to achieve in the end.
PK-A 186/5 in 20 overs Rohail Nazir 41* Arafat Mihas 31*
Rohail is playing quite smartly, using the gaps quite well and has even bagged a four and a six so far without taking any risks. After Qasim and Omair, Rohail and Arafat are holding on to a nice partnership which could help Pakistan push a little more which would definitely do some good.
PK-A 147/5 in 18 overs Rohail Nazir 27* Arafat Mihas 9*
Samad was taking risks which paid off a few times but it finally took him out as Sufyan Mahmood gets the catch and takes him out on the 5th ball of the 15th over. Arafat Minhas comes in. With six runs from the 16th over, Pakistan now have 123 runs.
PK-A 123/5 in 16 overs Rohail Nazir 7* Arafat Minhas 5*
Samad does not look like he has any intentions of taking it slow and is making risky moves but at least it paid off as he scores a six but Oman bowler Samay takes out Qasim with 2 runs left for him to reach half-century on the 3rd ball of the 13th over. Rohail Nazir comes in.
PK-A 107/4 in 14 overs Rohail Nazir 1* Abdul Samad 15*
It's been a mixed two overs for the Shaheens. Omair scored a brilliant four but then was taken out on the 5th ball of the 11th over. He walks out with 25 runs to his name. Abdul Samad came in for him and scored a four on his very first ball.
PK-A 95/3 in 12 overs Qasim Akram 45* Abdul Samad 7*
With two more overs full of singles and dots, Qasim and Omair bring the score to 79 runs. They are building a good partnership it seems.
PK-A 79/2 in 10 overs Qasim Akram 43* Omair Yousuf 19*
It's been comparatively slower in the last two overs with full of singles and dots but overall, Qasim and Omair are holding the fort well enough as of now.
PK-A 68/2 in 8 overs Qasim Akram 36* Omair Yousuf 15*
It has been a good 2 overs for Pakistan as both batters have been doing exceptionally well on the bat with Qasim hitting two 4s and three 6s and Omair hitting two 4s and bringing the score to 56 for Pakistan.
PK-A 56/2 in 6 overs Qasim Akram 31* Omair Yousuf 10*
It was an eventful 3rd over with Muzahir Raza taking over from Wasim Ali to bowl and doing a tremendous job. He takes down both Mohammad Haris and Yasir Khan in the 2nd and 4th balls of the 3rd over respectively. Qasim Akram and Omair Yousuf take over after them and they make it to 16 runs.
PK-A 16/2 in 4 overs Qasim Akram 1* Omair Yousuf 2*
1st over may not have produced much for the Shaheens, but with 2 wide balls and 6 runs coming from just them, Pakistan ended the 2nd over with 11 runs in the pocket.
PK-A 11/0 in 2 overs Mohammad Haris 3* Yasir Khan 2*
Mohammad Haris and Yasir Khan open the batting as the match begins.
Pakistan win the toss and elect to bat first.
Hello and welcome to the Live coverage of match 5 of ACC Men's T20 Emerging Asia Cup 2024. Pakistan A face Oman after a loss for both teams in their first matches.
Sufiyan Muqeem was the leading wicket-taker, claiming two scalps. With one loss and a net run rate of -0.350, Pakistan A currently sits in the third position on the Group B points table. Oman, captained by Jatinder Singh, also had a disappointing start, losing to UAE by 4 wickets.
Jatinder played a crucial role for his team, scoring a solid 54 runs, but the middle order struggled to add to the total, leading to a modest score of 150. Aamir Kaleem shone with the ball, picking up two wickets. Oman's defeat placed them at the bottom of Group B, with a net run rate of -0.378.
The match promises to be a crucial one for both teams as they aim to secure their first victory and improve their standings in the tournament. The weather is expected to be sunny, with no rain forecast, and humidity around 34%.
The pitch at Al Amerat Cricket Ground is expected to favor batters, offering a consistent bounce, but spinners might come into play as the match progresses. Fast bowlers could find success with slower deliveries and cutters.
For Pakistan A, players like Sufiyan Muqeem and Arafat Minhas will be key, while Oman will rely heavily on Jatinder Singh's batting and Aamir Kaleem's bowling. The stage is set for an exciting contest as both sides seek redemption and vital points in the group stage.
