Pakistan Cricket Board announce Nationwide Women's Cricket Trials - Dates, Venue, Selector

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the launch of a nationwide trial for women's cricket on Tuesday (August 22).

The recent upsurge in Pakistan women's cricket will gain pace through this programme as the programme starts from Wednesday (August 23). It will continue till August 31 and will be conducted across nine cities in Pakistan.

These trials aim to discover talented female cricketers and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their skills.

The purpose of these trials is not only to identify talent but also to select squads for the Pakistan emerging team that will compete against West Indies in October this year. Additionally, a Pakistan U19 team will participate in a triangular event involving Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in January 2024.

The National Selection Committee, consisting of former Test cricketer Saleem Jaffar, as chairperson, along with Asmavia Iqbal and Marina Iqbal, will be responsible for conducting the trials. They will evaluate players from three different age groups: U19, emerging, and seniors categories.

"We have recently awarded first-ever domestic contracts to 74 women cricketers, setting the tone for a brighter future in women's cricket. With the nationwide trials, we are eagerly poised to bring in a new wave of talented individuals forward," head of women's cricket Tania Mallick said.

"We have a great and exciting amount of women's cricket events ahead, and these trials will help us identify splendid talent that the selectors can consider for the national teams' squads," she added.
