PCB seeks Pakistan Fielding Coach with LinkedIn post, Fans troll with CFBR comments

Pakistan's search for stability behind the scenes has taken an unusual turn, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) opening applications for a permanent fielding coach through a LinkedIn recruitment post.

The vacancy is for the men's national team across all formats, with interested candidates given until September 9 to apply through the board's official website.

The appointment has become necessary after Shane McDermott's departure from the role in July. The Australian had joined Pakistan in 2025 as their all-format fielding coach after spending several years working in similar positions with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. His exit came without a public explanation, leaving the PCB to temporarily rely on Mansoor Amjad in the role.

Rather than continuing with the interim arrangement, the board is now looking for someone who can take responsibility for improving Pakistan's fielding standards over the longer term. Applicants are required to have at least a Level II coaching qualification and five years of experience working with elite cricketers, whether with national teams, international sides or franchise cricket.

The recruitment drive comes at a time when Pakistan's support structure has been undergoing considerable change. The PCB has increasingly sought to reshape its coaching and selection setup after their defeat in the 2nd Test against England.

PCB sacked their Test coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul mid-series, and also called back seven players from the existing squad, which includes Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Aamer Jamal, Ali Usman, Muhammad Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad. Along with that, Misbah-ul-Haq also resigned from the PCB Selection Committee after the shake-up.

For now, Mansoor Amjad remains the interim option, while the PCB begins its search for a permanent successor to McDermott.

Fans troll PCB on LinkedIn Post

Although PCB may argue their genuineness behind the job post, fans took the mickey out of them on that post. Several potential candidates trolled the Pakistan cricket authority for their unusual approach.

"Why are you posting this here? Just directly call some retired military or army personnel for the job," one wrote.

There are also a couple of hilarious 'CFBR' comments, which means Commenting for Better Reach, a phrase often used on LinkedIn in a jobseeker's post so that it reaches a larger number of people.
