Pakistan's disappointing campaign in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle ended on a sour note as they finished last in the points table following a crushing 120-run defeat to the West Indies in the second Test at Multan Cricket Stadium.
Chasing a target of 254, Pakistan's batting lineup collapsed under pressure, getting bowled out for just 133 runs in 44 overs. Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican was the star for the visitors, claiming 5 wickets for 27 runs in the second innings.

It took his match tally to 9 wickets for 70 runs. Warrican's brilliant performance handed the West Indies their first Test win in Pakistan in 34 years, leveling the series 1-1. Pakistan had earlier won the first Test by 127 runs, also in Multan.
This loss marked Pakistan's worst-ever performance in a WTC cycle, as they finished at the bottom with just five wins in 14 matches and a Points Percentage (PCT) of 27.98. Their performance in previous cycles had also been underwhelming, finishing sixth in the inaugural 2019-21 edition.
They had a PCT of 43.3 and seventh in the 2021-23 cycle with a PCT of 38.1. West Indies, despite their historic win, finished just above Pakistan in eighth place, concluding their WTC campaign with three wins, two draws, and eight losses, ending with a PCT of 28.21.
At the top of the standings, South Africa secured the No. 1 spot with a PCT of 69.44, while defending champions Australia finished second. Both teams will compete for the coveted WTC title in June at Lord's.
Meanwhile, India finished third in the standings with nine wins in 19 games. Sri Lanka, who will face Australia in an upcoming two-match Test series, still have an outside chance of surpassing India if they secure a 2-0 victory.
