Pakistan players' central contract finalised : PCB chief

Lahore, June 15 (UNI) Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Naseem Ashraf has said the central contract of the players has been finalised.

Talking to mediapersons after visiting the army-style training camp at Kakul, Abbottabad, Mr Ashraf said the summary of the Players' central contract will be presented to Ad hoc committee on June 17.

In a stern message to the players, he said, ''Selection of team will be made on merit, keeping in view the fitness of player.'' ''However, there will be no compromise on discipline.'' He said high-profile instructors are providing training to avert injuries to players and the main objectives of this 15-day long training camp is to provide state-of-the-art facilities to players under highly trained instructors of Army School of Physical Fitness (ASPT).

However, the PCB chief made it clear that physical and mental fitness of players was the priority for a spirited team.

Determined to put behind the death of former Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer, he told Geo TV ''After the announcement of conclusive report by the Jamaican police, the chapter has been closed now and there is no need to raise any apprehensions.'' He said appointment of new coach will be made soon, keeping in view all requirements and standards.

Pakistan skipper Shoaib Mailk said that all the players were taking keen interest in fitness exercises. Former cricketers Aqib Javed and coach Haroon Rasheed were also present on the occasion.

In the end, a paragliding demonstration was held which was highly appreciated by the Chairman and players.
