Pakistan Playing 11 vs Sri Lanka: Babar Azam's Side Make Five Changes For Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 Clash

Pakistan has made five changes to their playing 11 for the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka with the match scheduled to take place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday (September 14).

While there were three forced changes from their playing 11 against India, two players were dropped from Babar Azam's side which is set to take on Sri Lanka in a crucial encounter that could decide the finalist for Asia Cup 2023.

Pakistan have made the shock call to axe opener Fakhar Zaman, who has struggled for consistency throughout the Asia Cup with a top score of just 27 and a total of 61 runs at an average of 20.33.

While Fakhar has failed to post any big scores during the Asia Cup, he did manage to contribute three consecutive ODI centuries against New Zealand at the start of the year and is ranked inside the top 10 in the MRF Tyres ODI Batter Rankings.

The left-hander has been replaced by youngster Mohammad Haris, in what is one of five changes Pakistan have confirmed for their crucial Super Four match against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Haris, who las played in the format in May this year, has played only in 5 ODIs so far, scoring 27 runs.

All-rounder Faheem Ashraf also has been omitted from the side with fellow all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz being named as like-for-like replacement. Plus, the injured trio of Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Salman Ali Agha make way for Mohammad Wasim Junior, Zaman Khan and Saud Shakeel.

Rauf injury was announced before the reserve day match against India resume, while Naseem also did not come out to bat in the Pakistan run chase. Zaman and Shahnawaz Dahani were added as backup following the injury to the pace duo.
