Saim Ayub has been brought into the T20 set up to provide fast starts as the trio of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman all strike only around 130 in the shortest format. However, Saim has failed to replicate his PSL form on the international stage as he has scored 219 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 125.86, which may seem a concern for the think-tank. Teammates have always held Babar Azam in high esteem for his captaincy. Imam-ul-Haq, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan, expressed his admiration for Sarfaraz Ahmed's T20 captaincy, praising his astute tactical awareness and ability to swiftly assess situations and make decisions. He noted that Babar Azam provides ample opportunities to players, albeit without the same level of support from coaching and selection personnel as Sarfaraz had during his captaincy tenure. Imam highlighted Babar's strong player backing and effective communication with the team members which makes him a good leader.
Imam-ul-Haq was quoted by Cricket Pakistan, "I really like Sarfaraz bhai's T20 captaincy. He is very street-smart. He knows how to read the game and make quick decisions.
"Babar Azam gives proper opportunity to the players. Sarfaraz bhai also gave opportunities, but he had Mickey [Arthur] and Inzamam-ul-Haq behind him. Babar didn't have that kind of support in his era, but he backed the players a lot and had great communication with them."

While recognising the team's need to enhance their overall performance ahead of this year's T20 World Cup, Pakistan captain Babar Azam stressed the importance of improving batting performance during the middle overs following the T20I series against New Zealand, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
During the press conference on Saturday, after the 5th T20I, Babar said, "We are struggling significantly to get quick runs in middle overs. To improve in this area, we tested Iftikhar Ahmed, [all-rounder] Shadab Khan and [top-order batter] Usman Khan up the order under our rotation policy. But unfortunately, injuries to Mohammad Rizwan, Azam Khan and Irfan Khan Niazi hit our plans in this series [against New Zealand]."
The selectors will keep this thing in mind when they pick up the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup.

"We wanted to manage Shaheen Afridi's workload because he's our main strike bowler and we need him completely fit for the World Cup," Riaz was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

The focus will also be on the wicketkeeper-batter slot as Azam Khan missed the recent series completely, while Mohammad Rizwan also missed part of the New Zealand series due to an injury. But the duo are expected to be fit for the tournament in June.
