Pakistan has been handed a clear warning by the International Cricket Council (ICC) amid their recent stunt of threatening to withdraw from the T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh saw their fate sealed as ICC decided to replace them in the T20 World Cup. Despite repeated attempts from ICC to appease BCB, they stuck to their demands and have now got themselves ousted, with Scotland replacing them.

After Bangladesh's exit, Pakistan started their tantrum, as PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi fueled their withdrawal possibilities. He noted that the final decision will be taken only after the talks with the Pakistani prime minister, and clearly indicated their empathy (or sympathy) for their once compatriots.
But ICC has reportedly tightened the leash on Pakistan, giving a clear indication of the ramifications any such paroxysm. If Pakistan were to withdraw from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 , the ICC has reportedly warned of severe sanctions against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to multiple recent reports, if Pakistan pulls out, the ICC could impose unprecedented and heavy penalties, potentially crippling Pakistani cricket in several ways. These are the key reported sanctions.
Suspension or ban from bilateral cricket series: Pakistan could be barred from playing official bilateral matches (international series against other nations) for a period. The players will be completely isolated from international cricket.
Exclusion from the Asia Cup: Pakistan might be evicted or banned from participating in future editions of the Asia Cup. The current issue doesn't affect Pakistan by any means, and it may cause a heavy blow to their continental prospects as well.
No NOCs for overseas players in PSL: Foreign cricketers would be prohibited from participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), severely impacting the league's quality and revenue.
Heavy financial penalties: This could include millions of dollars in fines, forfeiture of participation fees, loss of ICC revenue shares tied to the tournament, and other monetary punishments. BCB is set to lose a huge amount of money, and PCB can have the same fate.
In extreme cases, broader sanctions like suspension from future ICC events or additional restrictions could follow, leading to what sources describe as "total isolation" for the PCB. These potential consequences arise because withdrawing would breach the participation agreement signed with the ICC, and solidarity or political reasons aren't considered valid grounds under ICC rules.
