Pakistan to feature in Road Safety World Series for first time, tournament to be shifted from India

A team from Pakistan is set to feature in The Road Safety World Series, a T20 league involving former greats of the game, ESPNcricinfo has reported. The two seasons of the league have been played in India so far, however, according to ESPNcricinfo the third edition will be held in England.

Road Safety World Series 2023 has already got the approval from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as per the report. Nine teams are set to participate in the upcoming edition as compared to eight last year.

The dates for the third season are yet to be finalised but it has been learnt that the league will be played from early September. The organisers will try to wrap the tournament under three weeks.

The first season of the star-studded tournament which has featured the likes of Sachin Tendulkar was played across 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The second edition was played in 2022 from September 10 to October 1. India Legends led by Sachin Tendulkar won the final match against Sri Lanka Legends by 33 runs.

Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan also featured in the India Legend squad. Sri Lanka Legend was led by Tillakaratne Dilshan and also featured former captain Sanath Jayasuriya in the squad.

Due to the strained political relations between the two teams, teams from Pakistan did not feature in the first two editions in India.
