The seventh match of ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup 2024 is underway. The Group B match winner between Pakistan U19 and UAE U19 is all set to decide the first semifinalists from the group and Pakistan have put themselves in a good position already.
Put into bat first, Pakistan U19 are on their way to a big total with 147/1 in 30 overs with half century-up Shahzaib Khan having a 94-run partnership with Usman Khan (41) followed by an unbeaten 50-plus stand with Riazullah for the second wicket
Pakistan U19 147/1 in 30 overs Shahzaib Khan 68* Riazullah 28*
Both teams enter the match brimming with confidence after commanding victories in their respective opening fixtures. Pakistan U19, led by Saad Baig, currently sit atop the Group A standings, buoyed by a stellar win against traditional rivals India U19.
Shahzaib Khan was the star of the show, delivering a masterclass with the bat. His explosive 159 off 147 balls, laced with five boundaries and ten towering sixes, propelled Pakistan to a challenging 281/7 in their 50 overs. Usman Khan also chipped in with a vital 60 as the duo set a solid foundation with a 160-run opening partnership.
On the bowling front, Ali Raza led the charge with three key scalps as Pakistan restricted India to 238, securing a 43-run victory and asserting their dominance early in the tournament. UAE U19, meanwhile, also share the top position in Group A, courtesy of an emphatic 273-run victory against Japan U19.
Batting first, UAE amassed a massive 325/7, thanks to Aryan Saxena's scintillating 150 off just 120 deliveries. Akshat Rai provided valuable support at the top, contributing 53 runs to the team's cause. Saxena's fireworks were complemented by a clinical bowling effort, led by Uddish Suri, who claimed four wickets. Japan had no answers to UAE's relentless pressure, folding for a meagre 52 as UAE registered one of the largest margins of victory in the tournament so far.
The clash between these two in-form teams promises a fascinating battle. Pakistan will look to Shahzaib Khan to continue his purple patch, while the likes of Usman Khan and Ali Raza will aim to deliver with bat and ball. UAE, on the other hand, will rely on Aryan Saxena and Uddish Suri to replicate their heroics against a much tougher opponent.
Both teams are evenly matched, and the outcome could hinge on which side handles the high-pressure moments better. With top-of-the-table implications and momentum on the line, this fixture is set to be a marquee encounter in the group stages.
