Pakistan in trouble as Venue Supervision in Karachi Raises Concerns Ahead of Champions Trophy 2025

By MyKhel Staff

Pakistan's preparations for the high-profile Champions Trophy tournament are under scrutiny, particularly regarding the stadiums' readiness.

The event marks the return of the Champions Trophy after an eight-year hiatus, and Pakistan, as the host nation, is facing mounting pressure to ensure top-tier facilities for the competition.

Pakistan s Venue Supervision in Karachi

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allocated nearly 12 billion PKR for the renovation of three major venues- Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. However, recent visuals from the stadiums suggest that significant work remains to be completed.

While the PCB remains confident about the timely completion of renovations, contractors and officials involved in the process have expressed skepticism about achieving international standards within the available timeframe.

A source closely monitoring the construction work shared concerns about the PCB's ability to deliver the promised world-class experience.

"Look, the stadiums will be in a shape to host matches, but the question is the PCB has promised everyone a world-class experience at these renovated venues for the Tri-series and Champions Trophy, and whether they can deliver on that promise remains to be seen," a source quoted by PTI stated.

In Karachi, the supervision and execution of renovations have been particularly concerning. The construction teams have faced multiple challenges, including delays in fund disbursement and lack of proper equipment.

Project supervisor Chohan voiced frustration over the obstacles faced by the construction teams.

"These are the kind of things we are dealing with, but sometimes it's sad to see people bashing us," Chohan complained.

Pakistan have two more stadiums in Rawalpindi and Lahore, and as per reports, the construction work in Lahore is moving forward without any major hiccups.

Adding to the concerns, Pakistan remains the only participating nation yet to submit their squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. The delay is reportedly due to PCB awaiting an update on Saim Ayub's injury, with the board hoping the southpaw recovers in time to be included in the team.
