Pakistan and Afghanistan will lock horns in an important ICC World Cup 2023 encounter at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday (October 23).
Pakistan are currently sitting mid-table in 5th with 4 points after four matches, while Afghanistan are rooted at the bottom with 2 points after four matches. Pakistan and Afghanistan have met seven times so far, with the Pakistanis winning all seven encounters so far.

Pakistan have no injury concerns ahead of the match against Afghanistan. They brought in Usama Mir in the last match against Australia, which proved to be a costly one. Given the nature of the Chennai pitch, we may see Shadab Khan coming back to the team replacing Mir. Their captain Babar Azam will also have to find form, as he has had a lean patch in the tournament with just 83 runs in four innings.
For Afghanistan, there is a possibility to go with the same team. Although the team management will be tempted to slot in Noor Ahmad, but it is to be seen if they take the approach. At the top, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran have done well. Their middle order has also played well and the Afghans will hope to pull off a combined effort against Pakistan.
