The upcoming Pakistan vs England Test Series, scheduled to start on Monday, October 7, will be a treat for cricket lovers as the two top teams will clash in the longest format of the game.
Both teams have announced a strong playing squad, with the Men in Green looking to buck their recent run of losses against the Three Lions.

Despite a passionate cricketing culture, Pakistan have won only 21 of the 88 Test matches against England. Meanwhile, England won 28 games, and 39 matches ended in draws. Let’s take a look at the results from the last five Test series where Pakistan and England have faced each other.
Result: Pakistan 0-3 England (ENG win)
The last time that Pakistan and England faced each other in a Test series was in a three-match series two years ago, as a part of the 2021-23 ICC World Test Championship. The series, which registered a record number of attendants in all three Test matches, was a spectacular failure for Pakistan.
The first Test match was a thrilling contest between the two teams, with England raking up 657 in the first innings and Pakistan replying with 579 runs. England’s decision to declare their second innings at 264/7 would make for a nervy ending, as Pakistan gave a good chase and reached 268 to lose the match by just 74 runs.
The second two Test matches saw much more improved performances from England, who defeated Pakistan by 26 runs and 8 wickets respectively. With the result, England became the first country to claim a clean sweep in a three-match Test series in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s last visit to England came as part of the first edition of the ICC World Test Championship. Played under the cloud of the COVID-19 pandemic, the series began with a thrilling match that ended with England winning by three wickets.
The first match saw Pakistan score 326 and 169 in the two innings. After scoring only 219 in the first half of the match, England left it all to the last day to chase down the target, with the four-wicket-taker Chris Woakes scoring a memorable 84* in the tail end of the match.
The next Test match was one of the shortest Test matches ever played after five days of constant rain stoppages. The third Test match brought further misery for Pakistan, as the Falcons were totally dominated by England, who posted a total of 583/8. The away team needed a follow-on inning to manage to draw the match.

Despite missing their star batter Babar Azam, Pakistan began their England tour in victorious fashion after winning the first Test match in Lord’s by nine wickets. The result was largely due to the phenomenal performance of Mohammad Abbas, who took two four-wicket hauls in both innings to restrict England to 184 and 242 runs respectively.
However, consistency has been an issue for Pakistan, and that was evident from the second Test match, where England won by an innings and 55 runs as Sarfaraz Ahmed and Co. managed to score only 174 and 134 runs in both innings.

Pakistan’s tour of England and Ireland in 2016 was an entertaining affair for cricket fans, with both teams at their chaotic best in the four-match competition. Pakistan won the first Test match by 75 runs, courtesy of a first-inning century by captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
However, a 254-run inning from Joe Root set for a victory for England in the second Test match by a mammoth 330 runs. The series looked to be yet another disappointment for Pakistan on English soil, as the Three Lions won the third Test match as well by 141 runs.
Never a team to be discounted at any point, Pakistan fought back spectacularly in the last Test match of the series, posting 542 runs in the first innings to win the match by 10 wickets. The first half of the match was one of the best performances from Pakistan in the longest format, with Younis Khan scoring a double-century and Asad Shafiq scoring 109 runs.

England’s tour of the UAE to play Pakistan was the last time that the latter had defeated the Three Lions in a Test series. Despite the crisis back home that saw Sri Lankan cricketers being attacked on Pakistani soil, the Shaheens were in top form throughout the three-match Test series.
The first Test saw both teams post 500+ run totals in the first innings, with both Shoaib Malik and Alastair Cook scoring double-centuries for their respective teams. However, the match ended in a draw.
The high-scoring trend continued with three centuries in the last two Test matches. However, Pakistan emerged victorious in both cases, winning by significant margins of 178 and 127 runs respectively to claim their second consecutive Test win over England in the UAE.
