Pakistan vs New Zealand: Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has been noticeably absent from the training session of the national cricket team at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, as reported by local media.
The situation raises concerns among fans and selectors ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. Rizwan's absence comes following a sudden hamstring injury he sustained during a recent match.

During the last match in Rawalpindi, Rizwan, known for his resilient batting and sharp wicketkeeping skills, had to retire hurt after scoring 22 runs due to the injury. The injury has cast doubts over his availability for the crucial series against New Zealand as the T20 World Cup 2024 squad is all set to be picked soon with deadline day set on May 1.
Rizwan's exclusion from the training session has left fans speculating about the severity of his injury and whether he will be fit in time for the series. The team management and selectors are closely monitoring his recovery progress, with hopes of having him back in the squad for the highly anticipated matches against New Zealand.
His absence could potentially pose a challenge for the Pakistan team, as Rizwan has been a vital cog in the batting line-up, providing stability and anchoring the innings on numerous occasions. Additionally, his presence behind the stumps adds depth to the team's fielding unit.
He becomes the second wicketkeeper to get injured during the ongoing series as Azam Khan earlier was ruled out with a calf injury before the first game. Young keeper Haseebullah Khan, who was a standby for the series, has been named a replacement.
Before the news of Rizwan's absence from the training session, the team celebrated the batter's milestone of reaching 3000 runs in T20Is. As reported, Shaheen Afridi brought cakes and invited the entire Pakistan Cricket team to celebrate the occasion. Naseem Shah was also celebrated for picking 100 international wickets.
