The T20 World Cup 2024 saw its second Super Over as the match between Pakistan and USA went to the wire and both teams finished on the same score at the end of their 20 overs.
Pakistan batted first and scored 159 runs in their 20 overs. Although it looked like a tough score to chase, USA were on course towards victory. Pakistan bowlers came back strongly in the death overs but Haris Rauf conceded 14 runs in the final over as the minnows levelled the score and took the match to Super Over.

This is only the 4th T20 World Cup Super Over in history and Pakistan's second tie in a T20 World Cup match.
Previously, the T20 World Cup saw three Super Overs. The latest one came in this edition of the tournament between Namibia and Oman.
New Zealand vs Sri Lanka in Kandy was the first-ever T20 World Cup super over. Both teams scored 174 runs in that match and the match went to the Super Over. In the end, it was the home team Sri Lanka who won the Super Over.

West Indies and New Zealand also witnessed a Super Over in that same edition of the T20 World Cup. West Indies were bowled out for 139 runs and the Kiwis could only manage to match the Windies score in the run chase. In the end, West Indies won the Super Over by 2 runs.

Oman and Namibia were locked to a score of 109 runs as the former defended their paltry score. The match went to the Super Over and Namibia won it in a canter. The African side scored 21 runs in their Super Over and Oman couldn't cross their lines.

Pakistan and USA were level at the end of the regulation overs. In the Super Over, USA batted first and posted a massive total of 18 runs. Aaron Jones and Harmeet Singh came into bat for USA and it was Jones who scored all the runs off the bat. Mohammad Amir bowled three wides with runs as Pakistan gave away a total of 8 extra runs.
Iftikhar Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman came out to bat for Pakistan in the chase as Sarabh Netravalkar bowled for America. Iftikhar hit a boundary but got dismissed in the very next ball. Shadab Khan came in next for Pakistan and after a wide, got a sneaky boundary off his pads. But Netravalkar bowled two terrific balls in the end as Pakistan could only manage

In the T20 World Cup, the only tied match which didn't go to the Super Over was a match between India and Pakistan. In the 2007 edition of the T20 World Cup, the tied match between India and Pakistan went to a bowl-out. India won the bowl-out 3-0 on that day.
