Pakistan will host Champions Trophy 2025 entirely, No Hybrid Model: PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi

By MyKhel Staff

Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi has given a stern warning to ICC regarding hosting the Champions Trophy next year.

The 2025 Champions Trophy was handed to Pakistan but the BCCI and the Indian counterparts have been pushing for a hybrid model, which was implemented in the Asia Cup.

There has been a long-term apprehension from India regarding visiting Pakistan and that is likely to be the case this time as well. However, as per reports in Pakistan, PCB officials have clearly stated that the tournament should be entirely held in Pakistan despite India's oppose.

A report from Pakistani outlet Express News revealed that the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has conveyed to ICC their stance on the hybrid model. Pakistan has dismissed the idea of a hybrid model and has given the task to the ICC to convince India to come to the country. A proposed PCB schedule arranged all India matches in Lahore to minimize the travelling and ensure maximum security for the travelling players.

It is to be seen how things pan out as the relationship between two cricketing entities can get marred due to geopolitical tension. BCCI secretary Jay Shah is in Colombo for the ICC meeting and an extensive discussion will take place and a proper outcome is likely to happen. Although BCCI has remained tight lipped about their visit to Pakistan, the final decision will be taken by Indian ministry for External Affairs.

Pakistan came to India for the World Cup 2023 and played matches in multiple venues. India, on the other hand, has never travelled to Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup.
