Pakistan Women Beat Bangladesh by 31 Runs to Win Bronze Medal at Asian Games 2026

Pakistan Women secured the bronze medal in the women's cricket competition at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs in the third-place playoff at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin, on Tuesday. Pakistan posted 145/8 in their 20 overs before restricting Bangladesh to 114/7.

Asked to bat first, Pakistan made a challenging 145 despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Gull Feroza provided an attacking start with 31 off 23 balls, including six boundaries, while Fatima Sana produced the decisive contribution with a captain's knock of 45 off 30 balls. Her innings featured three fours and three sixes.

Pakistan were in trouble at 67/5 before Fatima Sana and Aliya Riaz steadied the innings. The pair added 67 runs for the sixth wicket, with Riaz contributing 25 off 22 deliveries. Their partnership helped Pakistan reach 145/8 from their allotted 20 overs.

Bangladesh's chase got off to a difficult start as they slipped to 20/3. Nigar Sultana and Sharmin Akhter then attempted to rebuild, adding 47 runs for the fourth wicket. Nigar made 25 from 30 balls, while Sharmin remained unbeaten on 46 off 45. However, Bangladesh could not maintain the required scoring rate and finished on 114/7.

Umm-e-Hani was Pakistan's standout bowler, claiming 3/10 from four overs. She played a major role in breaking Bangladesh's momentum and helping Pakistan defend their total.

The bronze medal marks Pakistan women's third Asian Games cricket medal. They had previously won gold in 2010 and 2014. The result also avenges their bronze-medal playoff defeat against Bangladesh at the 2022 Asian Games, held in Hangzhou in 2023.

In the Gold medal match, India women are up against Sri Lanka women as Harmanpreet Kaur and her team will be vying to defend their crown.
