Pakistan Women vs Indonesia Women Asian Games 2023 Quarter-Final 2: Will Rain Play Spoilsport?

Pakistan Women are set to lock horns with Indonesia Women in their quarter-final match of the Asian Games 2023 on Thursday, September 21 at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou, China. However, rain is likely to play spoilsport in the match.

The venue hosted the first quarter-final between India Women and Malaysia Women earlier today (Thursday, September 21). However, only 15.2 overs of action could be witnessed due to rain.

The first spell of rain interfered with the match just 5.4 overs into the Indian innings. Following the break which lasted for one hour, the match was reduced to a 15-over per-side affair. India finished at 173/2 but Malaysia could just play two balls in their chase as rain hit the match for the second time - this time to abandon it altogether.

India Women advanced to the semi-final on the basis of their higher ranking. Nida Dar-led Pakistan Women will kick off their campaign at the same venue at 11:30 AM. Overcast conditions in Hangzhou have been predicted for the entire day.

“The team is in high spirits and every player is looking forward to the Asian Games. After practicing for two days here in Hangzhou, we are all set to play Indonesia tomorrow. The Asian Games hold a special place in our hearts, and we are determined to bring home another gold medal," Pakistan Women captain Nida Dar has said ahead of the match. Notably, Cricket has been played at Asian Games only twice and Pakistan Women clinched the gold medal on both the occasions (2010 and 2014). India did not participate.

The third and fourth semi-final matches will be played on Friday and the news for those matches involving Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is also not good. 70 percent precipitation level has been predicted in Hangzhou on Friday.

However, the weather conditions are expected to be favourable on Sunday and Monday. The two semi-finals will be played on Sunday. The bronze medal match and the final are scheduled to be played on Monday.
