Pakistan announced their 15-member squad for the World Cup 2023 on Friday, September 22 and Naseem Shah's omission made most of the headlines. Hassan Ali, who hasn't played ODI cricket for Pakistan since June last year, was named as his replacement.
Naseem Shah injured his bowling shoulder in the Super Fours match against India in the Asia Cup 2023. He walked off the field after bowling the second delivery of his tenth over. He did not come out to bat and immediately left for Dubai to get scans done for his injured shoulders. The results showed that the injury was worse than what was suspected initially.

The 20-year-old was coming up as Pakistan's best bowler in the lead up to the World Cup 2023. He looked more threatening than Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf in the Asia Cup 2023 where he picked seven wickets in four matches at an average of 20.00 and an economy rate of 4.85.
Pakistan's ambition to threaten the team with their now famous pace-trio has come down with the injury of Naseem Shah. Whether or not Pakistan could have managed a youngster like Naseem Shah could be a point of discussion, but the pacer, who made his Test debut at 16 years of age, has a long list of injuries.
Back Injury: Naseem Shah sustained back injury one year into his international career when he was just 17. The injury kept him out of faction for 14 months
Shoulder Injury: Just six weeks after his return from injury, Naseem Shah suffered a shoulder injury during his stint with Gloucestershire. He suffered the injury after bowling just 11 overs against Northamptonshire in his debut match for Gloucestershire. The injury ruled him out for a month.
Shoulder injury again: Naseem Shah has again injured his shoulder and is now expected to sit out for three to four months at least. The latest injury takes Naseem's injury layoff time to 19 months out of the 46 months (approx.) since making his international debut in November 2019.
