Pakistan threatens to boycott Champions League, IPL 2011

By Super Admin

Sydney, Jan.26 (ANI): Pakistan has threatened to boycott the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2011 and the Champions League T20 tournament, which is scheduled to be held later this year, in protest against the non-selection of its cricketers in the IPL-three auction.

Sports Minister Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ijaz Butt have ruled out any possibility of Pakistani cricketers participating in the 2011 IPL and Champions League terming the IPL-3 snub as a 'conspiracy'.

"We are the World Twenty20 champions, there is a Twenty20 World Cup this year, and they don't want us to win again. We will definitely not send any players for the IPL next time. Would you after this treatment? This is a conspiracy," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Butt, as saying.

"They probably don't want our players from playing in these competitions," Butt said referring to the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) and the IPL management.

Pakistan's stiff stance could jeopardise all-rounder Shahid Afridi's chances of playing in the Champions League for Australian T20 side, South Australia Redbacks. (ANI)
