The two underdogs from Group C collide as Papua New Guinea take on Uganda in match 9 of T20 World Cup 2024 at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence, Guyana on Wednesday (June 5).
Assad Vala-led Papua New Guinea will look to emulate the performance from their opening game, but aim for a better result following their loss by 5 wickets to West Indies, while Brian Masaba’s Uganda will look to put behind their 125-run loss to Afghanistan.

Both Uganda and Papua New Guinea are not expected to progress from Group C that includes Afghanistan, West Indies and New Zealand, who are likely to be fighting for two spots in the Super 8s.
This is Uganda’s first appearance in the T20 World Cup, while Papua New Guinea are playing in their second edition with their previous appearance coming in 2021, when they finished winless in the first round group stage.

Papua New Guinea and Uganda will face off for the first time in the Guyana National Stadium in Providence, Guyana, a venue which has hosted many other T20I matches earlier. In fact, PNG and UGA have already played at this venue in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.
