Bengaluru, March 3: India off-spinner R Ashwin and his fans were stumped on Saturday (March 3) seeing his parody Twitter account that wore uncanny similarity to his original handle.
The real Twitter handle of Ashwin is @ashwinravi99 and the parody that surfaced was named - @ashwinravi999 and it was tough to make out the difference at the first glance. And both used similar name too - Ashwin Ravichandran.
What the hell. 😂anyways happy birthday to the great musician. https://t.co/zZpa3k49mT— Ashwin Ravichandran (@ashwinravi99) March 3, 2018
The confusion started when the fake Ashwin wished South Indian film musician Vidya Sagar on his birthday.
"Today is the birthday of one of the underrated music directors "Vidya Sagar". He gave us some amazing melodies which got over shadowed by the strength of ARR, my personal favourite of Vidya Sagar is" Malarae Mounamah" from Karna. What's yours? #Vidyasagar" wrote the 'fake' Ashwin.
The tweet attracted several likes, retweets and replies before people realised that they were dealing with a parody account.
Ashwin the 'original' too did not miss the beat tagging his other self in a tweeted reply: "What the hell. anyways happy birthday to the great musician."
Here are some popular parody twitter accounts of cricketers and commentators and mind you they have huge following.
