Pat Cummins is targeting a mid-season return for the IPL 2026 campaign as he continues recovery from a back injury, offering hope to fans of Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the crucial second half of the tournament.
The Australian pace spearhead confirmed that he will miss the start of IPL 2026 but is optimistic about returning in time for the business end of the season.

"I won't make the start of that, but it shouldn't be too long before I'm back out there playing," Cummins said while discussing his recovery timeline.
Cummins is currently recovering from a lumbar stress injury that has limited his appearances over the past year. The 32-year-old recently resumed bowling in controlled training sessions, focusing on gradual workload increases.
According to Cummins, the recovery roadmap is designed to have him match-ready around the middle of the tournament.
"We've mapped out a plan to get me right by the middle of the tournament, so hopefully, if nothing goes wrong, I can play the back half plus the finals," he added.
With IPL 2026 starting on March 28, a mid-season return would likely place Cummins' comeback window in late April or early May, depending on recovery progress.
During the early phase of the tournament, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been appointed stand-in captain for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
His leadership will be key as SRH navigate the opening matches without their regular skipper and premier fast bowler.
Cummins' return is expected to significantly boost SRH's bowling attack, especially during the playoff race in the latter half of the season. His presence will also be crucial for team balance and leadership as the tournament intensifies.
If recovery proceeds as planned, SRH fans can expect their captain back in action during the second half of IPL 2026 - potentially just in time for the knockout stages.
